Our Story — Three Generations
Our story did not begin with a shop. It began in Mumbai's wholesale spectacle market, where Vinodchandra Vora sourced frames and supplied opticians across the region — until the trade closed, but the family's bond with optics never did.
In 1996, two of his sons — Jignesh and Jatin — brought those roots back to life with a single small shop in Virar, tucked inside a building away from the road. Some days no one came. On good days, one or two pairs were delivered. Yet every morning the shutters opened with the same hope.
Nearly three decades later, that one shop has grown into three — built not on shortcuts, but on years of honest advice and customer goodwill.
The founders first wanted to call it “Neetram”, but the name was taken. Instead they borrowed from the family's Ami Beauty Parlour — named after the eldest daughter, Amita. And so “Ami” became the family's signature, and it lives on through Ami Optics today.

Two brothers, one small shop tucked off the road in Virar. Some mornings no one came — yet the shutters opened with the same hope every single day.
A move to the crossroads at Jivdani Chowk, where four roads meet. One shop quietly became three — earned through honest advice, never shortcuts.

Computerised testing and hand-fitting under one roof, still guided by the same family hands that opened the shutters in 1996.
The very first customer was Meenaben Vora, the founders' mother. And even today, Vinodchandra Vora — now in his eighties — still visits the shop, a daily reminder of where the journey began.

Discover Your Lens
Every lens we recommend exists for a reason. Scroll to understand yours.
Blue-cut lenses fix that.
Phones, laptops and screens emit blue light continuously. Blue-cut lenses filter a portion of it before it reaches your eyes — reducing strain during long hours on screens.
Best forYou work on screens for 4+ hours a day.

Why Ami Optics
Quietly, every day, the same standards we've kept since 1996 — because people remember how they were treated long after they forget what they bought.
We suggest what genuinely suits your eyes, lifestyle and budget — never simply the most expensive option.
A large in‑stock lens inventory means many prescriptions are ready in around 30 minutes.
For the elderly and bedridden who cannot travel, we bring the eye test to them.
Adjustments, nose pads, cleaning and repairs — even on spectacles we didn't sell.
Two brothers, still working side by side with the same values they began with in 1996.
Customers who first came as young adults now return with their children — and their children's children.
For nearly three decades, Jignesh and Jatin have run Ami Optics side by side — their strengths fitting together as neatly as a good pair.

Customer Stories
“I bought my frame here back in 2016 and literally wore it for ten years, until I lost it near Naigaon khadi. I came back in 2026, and I'm still mind‑blown by the quality of these specs.”
Some customers even fly in from Saudi Arabia to have their spectacles made whenever they visit India.
